Live chat for your website

Live chat software for your website and support team

Talk to customers while they're still on your site. The Hodhod widget installs with one snippet and brings every conversation into one shared inbox for your whole team.

Why Hodhod live chat?

  • Installs in minutes: one short snippet works on any site, from WordPress to custom-built.
  • Light and unobtrusive: the snippet loads asynchronously, so it never blocks your page.
  • Every language, including right-to-left: the widget and panel fully support RTL languages such as Arabic and Persian.
  • One inbox for everything: website chats and Telegram messages side by side, for the whole team.

A widget that feels like part of your site

Pick your brand color, write your welcome heading and tagline, and choose where the chat button sits. By default the widget follows the visitor's system light/dark setting, and you can match its language and theme exactly to your pages — multilingual sites included.

Chat, ticket or both: you decide

For each website inbox, choose the widget's contact mode:

  • Live chat only: visitors go straight into a conversation.
  • Ticket only: the widget shows a ticket form, for teams that don't reply instantly.
  • Both: visitors pick one themselves.
  • Ticket outside business hours: live chat during business hours, and afterwards a ticket form opens instead of promising a reply nobody will give.

Customers fill in the ticket form right in the widget, then can see the ticket's status and follow up in the same thread. The form is protected against spam. Tickets flow into your team's ticketing system. Not sure which mode fits your work? Read Ticketing or live chat?

Widget language

The widget is fully translated into Persian, English, Arabic, Spanish, German and French, and works for dozens of other languages too; in those, new text is shown in English for now. The light or dark theme also matches your site.

Inside your Android app

If you have an Android app, the Hodhod Android SDK (beta) brings the same inbox into it natively: chat, ticket and chatbot-flow screens built with Jetpack Compose, using the contact mode, languages and survey you already set up for the inbox. The code is open source (MIT) and installs through JitPack: HodHodChat/hodhod-android-sdk on GitHub.

Waiting customers are never left guessing

When the queue gets busy, the Hodhod widget can show customers how many people are ahead of them and roughly how long they'll wait. The queue number is live — it updates the moment the queue changes, no refresh needed. Both are optional per inbox and switch on with a single toggle.

Every conversation in one shared inbox

  • Skill and capacity routing: a conversation reaches an agent who has the skill it needs (say, a language or a topic) and still has free capacity. You set skills with levels and a capacity limit per agent; rules can be based on inbox, label, keyword, ticket category and business hours, and the strategy can be least-loaded, round-robin or highest skill. If no rule matches, there is a fallback. The reason each agent was picked is kept in a decision log ("why this agent"), you see the team's live load, you can test rules in a simulator and redistribute the queue among agents.
  • Preventing double replies: if a teammate is typing a reply in the same conversation or ticket, you see it, so two people don't answer at once. The default is a warning; "block" mode is also available, with a "Send anyway" option.
  • Teams: route conversations to the right team — sales, billing, technical.
  • Private notes: teammates coordinate inside the conversation without the customer seeing.
  • Canned replies and macros: answer repeat questions in a few keystrokes, consistently. Macros also have ticket actions, such as creating a ticket, setting status and category, a due date and followers, or linking to an issue; and on the tickets list you can run a macro on several tickets at once.
  • Labels: categorize conversations and see in your reports what customers ask most.

When nobody is online

Set business hours and holidays so customers know when to expect a reply. The widget can collect the customer's email so the answer also reaches them by email, and a pre-chat form can ask for a name or phone number. The decision-flow chatbot answers common questions with simple options and, whenever needed, hands the customer to an agent or turns the conversation into a ticket.

Proactive messages on the pages that matter

With live chat campaigns, set automatic messages for specific pages — for example, if a visitor lingers a few seconds on checkout, ask whether they have a question. You can limit campaigns to business hours so you never promise an instant reply when nobody's there. More ideas for increasing sales with chat

Tell customers before they ask

For an ongoing issue, show a notice in the widget (for example "The payment gateway is being looked into") so customers see the status instead of messaging you. This is optional and off by default; you turn it on per inbox. After the problem is fixed you can also send a one-time message to the open conversations linked to the issue. When the number of conversations about an issue suddenly climbs, Hodhod also alerts the owner and admins.

Announcements and warnings at the top of the widget

When the payment gateway has a problem, support is closed or the system is down for a few hours, visitors should find out before they write. For each website inbox you can show up to two announcements at the top of the widget, at two levels: an "announcement" (yellow) for ordinary news and a "warning" (red) for an urgent problem. The text can have bold parts and links on part of a sentence, and you can add one image. Visitors can close an announcement (it is shown again when you change the text), you can schedule when it starts and ends, and there is a live preview in the inbox settings.

The announcement appears on the widget's home screen, the pre-chat form and (in ticket-only mode) the ticket screen, both in the web widget and in the Android SDK. It differs from the issue banner in that you write it yourself and it isn't tied to an issue. Announcements and warnings in the support widget: when and how

Measure and improve

Hodhod's reports show first response time, resolution time, conversation volume, each agent's performance and team workload. The "Unanswered conversations" report makes sure nothing slips through, and a customer satisfaction survey after each conversation — with your own follow-up questions — tells you how customers really feel.

Quality review: supervisors score a sample of conversations against your team's criteria and pass the feedback on to the agent; it complements the satisfaction survey, it doesn't replace it. A scorecard has weighted criteria, sampling can be automatic (with a percentage you choose, always including low-rated conversations), agents see their own reviews and can acknowledge or dispute them, and reports break results down by agent, criterion and week, with CSV export. You can grant review management through a custom role. See support conversation QA review.

Frequently asked questions

Which websites does Hodhod live chat work on?

Any site where you can add a snippet: plain HTML, WordPress and WooCommerce, PHP sites, and single-page apps built with React or Vue.

Can the widget match my site's colors and language?

Yes. Color, welcome text and button position are set in the panel, and you can match the language and light/dark theme exactly to your pages through the snippet settings.

What happens when no agent is online?

Customers see your team's status and can leave a message. If you turn on email collection, the reply also reaches them by email. With the "Ticket outside business hours" mode, you can also show a ticket form instead of chat when you're closed.

How does a conversation reach the right agent?

You can set skills and capacity for agents and write routing rules; a conversation goes to an agent who has the skill and free capacity. If no rule matches, a fallback applies, and the reason for each choice is visible in the decision log.

Can I show an announcement or warning in the widget?

Yes. For each website inbox you can set up to two: an "announcement" (yellow) or a "warning" (red), with bold parts, links, one image, an optional schedule and an option for visitors to close it. An announcement belongs to an inbox and doesn't vary by language or page. Full guide
